“Bad Comments,” Jim Iyke’s movie, has been acquired by Amazon set to be released on the online retail giant’s streaming platform. The movie is a satire of the Nigerian social media scene and has been receiving rave reviews from critics.

Nigerian social media is full of self-righteous people who are always quick to criticize others. “Bad Comments” takes this to the extreme, with characters who are so wrapped up in their own lives that they can barely function.

The storyline: Frank Orji had the world at his fingertips. With a thriving acting career, he was living the Nigerian dream. That is until an edited video of him surfaced online. Suddenly, his reputation was in tatters and he was being cyberbullied by trolls.

With the help of a hacker, his bodyguard and his personal assistant, Frank decides to take matters into his own hands. He tracks down the bullies and gives them a taste of their own medicine. In the process, he learns more about himself than he ever could have imagined.

According to the veteran actor Jim Iyke in an interview ”The social media space isn’t being utilised positively and this is tragic. Social Media is supposed to be a space where people can find their dreams and shortcuts to exhibit what they really are.

‘‘It’s become cool to project cruelty and hatred online and Bad comments speak to this, we hope to show some of the perils of social media, we worked hard on a powerful production which has something for everyone.”

The 2021 Nollywood movie “Bad Comments,” stares Jim Iyke, Chiwetel Agu, Patience Ozokwor, Ayo Makun, Osas Ighodaro, Yemi Blaq, Sharon Ooja, Ruggedman, Ini Edo, and Timaya, among others.
