Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema announced a “big decision” that he will be making moves to abolish the death penalty in his country. He said on the eve of Wednesday’s Africa Freedom Day, “We’ll work with parliament and run this process as we transition away from executing people.” He also emphasizing that Zambia will instead focus on the protection and rehabilitation of life while still delivering justice for all.
