The Nigerian political space has been dominated by the same set of people for far too long. They have clung to power with all their might, leaving the country in a state of decay and neglect. However, a new dawn is rising, with the younger generation taking charge and demanding change. This blog post aims to enlighten readers about the unprecedented collaboration among Nigerian youths and how it spells doom for the old political establishment.
The political climate in Nigeria has been hostile for decades, with corruption and incompetence plaguing every administration. The old political establishment has thrived on the status quo, using divide-and-rule tactics to keep the population in check. However, the last presidential election cycle saw the rise of young politicians, with the presidential candidate of one of the major political parties singing the tune of the youths, this signaled a shift in the political landscape of Nigeria.
The old political establishment has always relied on its ability to buy its way through elections or selections as the youths will say. However, the collaboration among Nigerian youths has rendered that tactic obsolete. With the advent of social media, young people can now connect with each other and share ideas on how to bring about change. The #EndSARS protests in 2020 were a testament to the power of collaboration among Nigerian youths, followed by the 2023 elections which was dominated by the “OBIdients. In EndSARS, the youths were able to mobilize across the country and demand an end to police brutality, bringing the government to its knees.
The old political establishment has always relied on its ability to intimidate young people. However, a new generation of Nigerians is rising, one that is not afraid to speak truth to power. The youth of today are more educated, more tech-savvy and more politically aware than ever before. They are no longer content to sit back and let the old establishment dictate the terms of their lives. They demand a seat at the table and won’t settle for anything less. They are increasingly aware of the importance of political participation. They understand that the only way to effect real change is to be involved in the political process. Young people are running for offices across the country, and they are winning. They are demonstrating a level of commitment and passion that the old establishment could only dream of.
In a more detailed form, there is a massive collaboration happening right now, unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. This unstoppable force is coming together to ensure that those who hold Nigeria hostage will be a thing of the past. And if you’re not aware of it, you must be living under a rock! There are countless groups, made up of individuals from Nigeria, Africa, and even the diaspora, who are investing their time and resources to bring about change. It’s a movement that can’t be stopped, no matter how hard they try. And for those who try to make this an issue of ethnicity, think again. People from all walks of life, from the Yorubas, Hausas and Igbos, to those in the middle belt and minorities like Edo Delta and Rivers, are at the forefront of this battle. The old corrupt establishment has met its match!
The rise of Nigerian youths is an impending doom for the old political establishment. It’s only a matter of time before this group of determined and committed young people takes over the reins of power. The old establishment can no longer rely on its usual tactics to keep the Nigerian populace in check. The collaboration among Nigerian youths, their political savvy and their willingness to stand up for what is right are ushering in a new era in Nigerian politics. The future is bright for Nigeria, and it’s because of the determination of its young people.
